Why should we function in teams?

This blog is inspired by the most recent episode of What’s God Doing!

Do you like serving others and doing projects as a team? It is pretty fun, isn’t it?

Maybe it is because it’s what God calls us to do.

As I watched the video below, Vivien made a great point about this.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:35)

For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For you are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which he prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:9)

I was part of an Outreach Team serving in Puerto Rico, and one of our projects was supporting a school run by a Christion woman for students that were either rejected or navigating special needs. Our main task was to get it back up and running after COVID had closed it for a season.  We cleaned and painted the building, built new desks, and managed to finish just before Valentine’s Day.

We decided the holiday would make a great theme for a welcome back party for kids of all ages; we planned each game to have a biblical life application. One by one groups of kids came through; we played the games, shared the lessons and handed out candy. The main teacher of the school ended up having to leave halfway through to visit a friend in the hospital. She told us later that she was worried things would fall apart after she left. While she was at the hospital, she got texts from all the parents about how good it was going. She said she was so blessed that we had loved on her kids and did not take advantage of the situation.

This lady worked hard to plan for and love her students, and when she wanted to love on her friend in the hospital, God provided a team.  We too should trust God and step into the opportunities he gives us, believing He will take care of the details.  Like my team served her, we should walk in the things God tells us to do with integrity.

Tell me your stories about how you were blessed by the services of others!

  1. TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More. There’s so many good stories about teams and I love to see the gifts that I don’t have displayed beautifully in other people. I was at the managers meeting this week and without the effort of each department, normal life and operations would fall apart. There is no functioning without a team.

  2. Wonderful testimony of how God used this DTS team to not only bless the children and demonstrate a Godly example to them but to also serve this lady by taking care of her ministry in her absence. Well done TEAM!
