Check out what our Appalachian Trail missionaries say about their experience.

Stage 1: Lecture Phase

During the Lecture Phase of the DTS, students have the amazing opportunity to hear from teachers from all over the world! The topics are designed to challenge students to think for themselves, inspire them to pursue God further, and discover who God has created them to be.

Topics may include:

  • Hearing God’s Voice
  • The Nature & Character of God
  • Father Heart of God
  • Inductive Bible Study
  • Biblical Worldview
  • Kingdom Culture
  • Evangelism
  • Intercession and Worship
  • Relationships
  • Identity & Destiny

Stage 2: DTS Outreach

Following the Lecture Phase, the teams will embark on a 8 week outreach beginning on the A.T. The outreach will likely begin near Harper’s Ferry, VA. This year God has spoken to us to go from the A.T. to the Nations. We are taking the students from the familiar path of the Appalachians to the exotic and captivating countryside of Spain–El Camino de Santiago! Reaching pilgrim hikers with the gospel message is a vision YWAM VA has caught and it won’t let go. Is God calling you to the nations? DTS outreach will primarily consist of 3 main parts: Worship, Service, and Evangelism. Students will have the opportunity to build relationships while hiking the trails, where they will be able to serve, love and evangelize to their fellow hikers.

The A.T. DTS is a hiking outreach, however, our primary goal is to make Jesus famous all across the earth. People from all over the world hike the AT every year, and we believe that the Lord has given us the AT outreach as a strategy to influence many nations right here in the US.
